Which is the most ridiculous religion?
by sleepy inmost of us now laugh at the witnesses, but i think compared to some others they are quite reasonable ( notice i said compared).. so which religion has the most crazy beliefs.. i dont have much knowledge of these religions but i'll mention what i know , feel free to add your own points or correct me if i'm wrong.. i'll start with.. mormons,.
believe jews migrated to america.and that we are angels on earth being tested.. monnies,.
believe rev moon is jesus on earth.they also use (missuse) quatum physics to prove their beliefs.. scientology,.

Question about JWs and Higher Education (part 2)

a couple of days ago, i posted a thread about jws and higher education.
that question was regarding jws who finished high school.. now, my question is this for both jws and xjws alike: are there any jws who before converting did have a college education (4 year bachelors, master or phd) that you know or met?.

My experience has been that Witnesses who got degrees are very highly regarded when they convert. It's seen as kind of a doctrinal vindication. In discussing such ones for the first time, their degree is invariably mentioned.

Question for ex elders
by Marilyn ini'm wondering if any of you ex elders ever felt embarrassed or awkward about having to stick your noses into other peoples business did it ever seem like that to you, or were you of the mind that you were a necessary part of the lives of the flock?

I always hated sticking my nose in other people's business and generally didn't. It's amazing though how many people desperately want you to get involved in things you don't need to know, don't want to know and wish you'd never heard of. It's particularly difficult when husbands and wives are at odds. I made it a practice to never listen to one without the other's involvement.
Judicially I usually found it possible to only get by with very basic information. Actually, the instuctions from the organization are that you don't go into unnecessary detail but many brothers have different definitions of what's necessary.
In my experience it's a relatively small percentage of elders that really get off on getting into people's lives. But, the turmoil it causes makes it seem like there are a lot more of them.

Some people are posting on this thread whose intellectual processes I respected in the past. I just can't belive you're swallowing this tripe. This whole story is so contrived it's pathetic. Are you so eager to hear something like this that you suspend the normal process of disbelief? Whoever wrote this clearly knows nothing of elders or how they work. This thing is as false as a three dollar bill.

JWs & DF'd ones doing business together
by roybatty ini recall reading a wt article from the 1980s regarding how dfd and dad ones should be treated.
a portion of this article dealt with having business dealings with someone who is dfd.
if i remember correctly, the society encouraged the reader to, if possible, get out of any type of business partnership with someone who is dfd and not to have any business dealings with these ones.

If you don't hire someone or try to fire someone because they're DFd, the Legal Department will tell you real quick you don't have a leg to stand on and you'd better make your peace with them before they sue you. Course that doesn't appear in the publications, you have to make direct contact to get that direction.

I can't believe all of you are so gullible. Evidently it strikes some others the same way but they're dancing around about it. This whole thing doesn't hold water, especially if you know any real officers. I guess there really is a sucker born every minute.
